Market data for Isoglucose sees tentative halt to four-year decline
Starch Europe is pleased to publish the latest updated sales figures for glucose-fructose syrups and fructose-glucose syrups (jointly known as isoglucose), which include the figures for 2021, as the latest year for which consolidated figures exist.[1]
It is noteworthy that sales of Isoglucose have seen a very slight rise (+2%) year-on-year compared to 2020 figures. This can likely be attributed to a tentative post-COVID recovery in out-of-home consumption, following the lifting of COVID restrictions.
Total sales figures, however, remain well below the 2017 figures, and relatively far removed from projections made by many stakeholders prior to the 2017 abolition of the sugar and isoglucose production restrictions through quota in the EU. Isoglucose production in 2021 amounts to just over 3% of the total sugars market, compared to 5% in 2017.
