COVID 19 - Message from Starch Europe President

From ‘Farm to Fork’, workers are being asked to go well beyond the normal call of duty to keep supply chains functioning during these extraordinary times.

I would like to pay an enormous tribute to all those EU starch industry workers who are making such an invaluable contribution. Some of us in the sector are able to work from home but many can not. A huge debt of gratitude to all those employees keeping our starch plants running and our silos stocked. We will continue to put your health and safety at the forefront of everything we do.

In particular, I would also like to thank the train and truck drivers delivering agricultural raw materials to our plants and the essential ingredients we produce to our customers in the food, feed, pharmaceutical and packaging sectors upon which EU consumers will so rely in these very challenging times.

Starch Europe and its members will continue to work tirelessly with the European Commission and Member State governments to ensure the security and health of all the sector’s workers and limit the increasing disruption drivers are still facing at borders across the EU.
