Starch Europe Welcomes European Commission's Water Resilience Strategy, Reinforces Industry Commitment to Water Efficiency

Starch Europe welcomes the European Commission’s recent publication of its EU Water Resilience Strategy, aiming to restore and protect the water cycle, securing clean and affordable water for all and creating a sustainable, resilient, smart and competitive water-economy in Europe.

Water is a vital resource for our industry, essential for processing our agricultural raw materials and ensuring the stability of the wider food system.

The European starch industry acknowledges that a stable and high-quality water supply can no longer be taken for granted as climate change impacts, such as severe droughts and floods, increase in frequency and severity across Europe. These events present significant challenges not only to our manufacturing operations but to our entire value chain, starting with the farmers who supply our raw materials.

Starch Europe and its members are committed to being constructive partners in the journey towards a water-resilient Europe. We look forward to collaborating with the European institutions and all relevant stakeholders to successfully implement the actions outlined in this timely and important strategy.
